Lightwaves are only visible in the colours shown on the illustration to the left but the wave-spectrum goes even further. Beyond the visible scale there is 'infrared' light which is only measurable - not visible to the eye.
Thermal infrared light is emitting from objects, making it possible to detect heat radiation. This is the property we use in the Guardia Control System, which lets us build a complete heat map of the human face temperature using an IR camera with a temperature resolution of 0.08 degrees Celcius.
Even if the temperature varies over time, the heat pattern remains the same. This feature is patented by Guardia.
Making IR visible
To make the IR visible, we colour the emitting IR light as shown on the illustration to the right. This is the same colur coding as shown on our 3D face models.
